I’ve had lessons with coach Sean for some time now. I am an adult student, and Sean had displayed incredible patience with me! He also didn’t mind shifting gears as needed. He would change the focus to my time issues as needed and then go back to techniques. Uniquely, this Berkeley graduate is also on the ball with technology and had helped me get going with suit of apps to enable me to practice better. Sean covered Jazz and Blues with me, and is no stranger to Rock (he’s an expert on Jeff Beck style). I highly recommend Sean.

I began guitar lessons with Sean Meredith-Jones in mid/late high school and continued through 4 years of undergrad. In that time, he was an instructor to me in both jazz ensemble and private lesson settings. My experience with him as a teacher found that while he is able to provide a large amount of information that can be applied immediately, he also has a knack for planting the seeds of ideas that take root and continue to pop up years down the road. Sean’s ability to gently push me out of my comfort zone and introduce improvisation, deep diving into modes, and more complex harmonic ideas gave me a much broader view of guitar playing and music as a whole. While it’s hard to succinctly put into words what he is able to draw out of his students, I can say that lessons with him are generally inspiring, give you a desire to learn more, and still influence a lot of how I approach playing to this day.
