Biography

(Continued from Page 1)

He was also the one who inspired me to study music more intimately.  After completing high school, I attended Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Ma.  I was there from Sept 94-Dec97.  I completed 8 semesters there, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Performance.  Some of the guys I studied with were Mark White, Jon Finn, Brett Wilmott, Mitch Haupers, Bruce Thomas, Charlie Cassara, Robin Stone, Ron Mahdi, and David Newsam.

I tried to become a sponge of musical information during that time.  The foundation of my relationship with music was laid there...becoming more intimate with melody, harmony, rhythm...and learning to hear music with a deeper awareness.  The classes and ensembles I attended were great...but also my musical peers and professors really had a major impact on me...just their vibe personally, and their total commitment and love for music.  You can’t help but be inspired and try and raise the bar on your own gig.

Since finishing school in Dec 97, I came home to Toronto and started to hammer out my own musical path.  I do a lot of teaching and I see students of all ages and all levels.  I started putting various bands together and started to figure out what I wanted my musical voice to sound like.  I have had the great pleasure of playing with some of Toronto’s finest players...Ben Riley, Robi Botos, Michael Pellarin, Michael Janzen, Richard Brown, Paul Delong, Mark Kelso, Phil Dwyer, Pat Kilbride, Attila Darvis, Adrian Farrugia, Russ Boswell, Scott Alexander, Dylan Heming, David Braid, and Marc Rogers to name a few.

At this point, I really feel like I’d like to let my work do the talking for me.  I’ve released two albums in the past 3 years which I’m really proud of...both of which I wrote, produced, arranged, and had much to do with the engineering and recording as well.  All the music was recorded with my own recording facility...which has really allowed me to take my time in the recording process and make something I’m truly happy with.

I released a full album of original jazz music called “New Time” in June 2003.  It was my first serious work since finishing school.  To read and hear more about this record...click here

In February 2006, I released my second album called Turn Up The Good which you can explore more fully here.
