Guitarist, Composer, Arranger, Producer, Engineer
Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting this site. In it you will find glimpses into my musical and personal world. I say personal as music goes far beyond just being my profession. It is that, but it’s really my passion, hobby, and form of therapy.
I was born Dec 12, 1975. I started playing guitar around the age of nine. Like most musicians, what started out as a hobby and source of fun, turned into my career. There was something so compelling about playing music that drove me to keep going with it. I really couldn’t see myself doing anything else professionally.
I did play in a high school rock band. I started playing clubs when I was 16. We wrote our own tunes, played cover material...and rocked hard. We played stuff by Van Halen, Black Crowes, Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie, Black Sabbath...all that great stuff. I became addicted to the process...rehearsing every week, and then letting it out to an audience. There was a real sense of family with the other band members...
Things haven’t really changed that much...I love music more than ever. My relationship with it has become a lot more intimate over the years. As a pro muso, I have to contend with all aspects of it...the technical side of producing it, writing it, playing it, and selling it. To be quite honest, my job description would be: Guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, engineer, salesman, promoter, performer, and educator.
The music industry has changed a great deal since I first got involved professionally. Taking on each of those jobs is both a necessity and I generally take an interest in handling my musical affairs on my own. One of my biggest influences growing up was Steve Vai. I was always impressed with the fact that he had such command over the instrument, but also wrote, arranged, produced, and engineered his own projects. While, my style has veered away from what he does, he is still a source of a great deal of inspiration in terms of his work ethic and as a musician.
